I think LONDON and UK in general should AVOID following the NARRATIVE set by the colonies. UK is far more sophisticated than the USA in this regard. we've survived every other empire. We've vanquished the horrendous Crown of Aragon ( the short, savage reigns of Spain, Portugal, France and Italy) – and we've liberated the WORLD from legal enslavement of humankind.
There's a lot of GOOD from the new world. There are many reasons to follow their cue on entertainment and technology. BUT - Don't follow the America(s) down this particular dark road of this "black and white" race war rubbish ... Its boring and we have the depth of history to know how these things pan out.
